• Allfix...

From Bill McGarrity@DIGDIST/BATTLEST/FREEWAY to All on Sun Jan 18 20:10:00 2015
    Hiya gang...

I am trying to setup ALLFX to work with Synch. There are only two things I'd like it to do. First, I'd like it to reply to a message in the FILEFIND area if indeed my filearea has it and to do FREQ's. My question is, I thought ALLFIX has the ability of scanning Synch's filearea and creating a files.bbs that lists the files IN each area. ALLFIX is creating the files.bbs but it's empty. Is it supposed to be that way? Does FIXUTIL populate that file and if so, what switches do I use?

I did originally run FCOMP 21 c:\sbbs\ctrl and ALLFIX did see all the file areas correctly.

Can ADDFILES export to each dirs files.bbs?

A little help with this one would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I did originally run FCOMP 21 c:\sbbs\ctrl and ALLFIX did see all the file areas correctly.

What version of Synchronet and Allfix are you running? Although fcomp seemed to work, I could never get it to write to the file area -- instead I write to files.bbs and call ADDFILES.

I'm running Synchronet 3.16 and ALLFIX version 5 -- could never get 6.0.2x to work here consistently.

I'm running 3.16a with v6 of ALLFIX. I'm not asking it to write to the filearea but to create a files.bbs by scanning each file area but it doesn't. I'll try v5 and see what happens. Do v5 need to be registered?

    Thanks

    Thank you sir!!

    Worked like a charm... :)

Another quick question, in my research I've been seeing/reading the files.bbs is a 0 bit file?? Is it empty or should it have the entire list of files in that directory for ALLFIX to work?

It depends on how you're using ALLFIX. If you're just using the FILES.BBS as a way for ALLFIX to pass the file descriptions to Synchronet (e.g. via ADDFILES),
then the FILES.BBS will only contain the file names and description of newly imported files and after ADDFILES is run, the file is then truncated (to 0 bytes).

If you're going to use ALLFIX to hatch files from your BBS, then I suspect the FILES.BBS will need to be current (have a current list of file names and descriptions) with the Synchronet filebase and no truncated (0 bytes in length).

I'll not be using ALLFIX to update the Synch filebase as TinyTic will do that for now until I refamiliarize with ALLFIX. I'll just be using it for FREQ and for the FILEFIND echo.

    Thanks again... :)
