From Richard Webb@1:116/901 to Dallas HInton on Tue Jun 21 03:15:44 2011
    Hello Dallas!

FOund that post, extracted the listings it contained,
filenames for artfix and TImed. wILl cull my own files base for dos filenames for wimm and netmgr, versions i have. I
note Andrew Clark's post gave pointers to the source code
for linux on the web, will endeavor to extract that from his message as well if
    it hasn't scrolled off.
About the only thing i might need to find relevant file
names for folks to look for is jaminfo.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,
    Richard

    HI there,

FOund one of GOrd's old posts, artware products
descriptions, complete filenames for both. Doesn't list the y2k patches and key distribution stuff however. Been the
listing you posted and GOrd's list i'll put something
together for a twice yearly autopost.

About the only thing I'm not seeing in my msg base for this
echo is a good sampling of where to find stuff. I know I
can list your system or could.

What I need from sysops carrying artware products for such a listing:

mEthods of transfer you support, i.e. pots standard freq,
ftp, email freq. Any restrictions on access, such as listed only for file request via pots or vmodem, etc.
A posting in the echo will help, if addressed to me
personally it'll get my attention. I'll boil it all down
    and go from there.
fOlks don't need to give me file names, since between your
list and Gord's posting I've got a comprehensive list pretty well covered. IT would be helpful to post which artware
products are available from the various system.
I'd do a quick and dirty. For example,
    x:666/zzzz ftp: somewhere.org/pub/ftn, standard file
requests, listed only; timed, netmgr, wimm

I'm hoping to have a preliminary list of distribution files
and program names, etc. ready for day 180 autopost. We'll
see what happens on the "where to get" question.

    Thanks for your help.

    My pleasure!

TEAmwork always gets it done friend. Thanks a bunch, again!

    Regards,
    Richard

Thank you! Didn't know if you were doing standard freq,
even though pots. I remember participating in a beta test
program, or considering it, guy was looking for some common
speech synth users to beta test a product for him, (this was way back around '93 iirc. YOu were running sort of a
nonstandard freq processor then, a "mount" and "dismount"
    thing.

    Thanks for the info.

Wow, what a memory!! Yes, in the early DOS networking days keeping a network drive mounted was a big system load, so I only mounted the network when needed!! We've come a long way since then! :-)

YEp, I thought that's what that was about at the time <g>.
I soon found myself working for a former employer again, as
well as had some contracts to fulfill for my own business so didn't want to spend the time doing beta testing for the
party had the file for freq on your system <g>.

And, in case he's reading here, sent both email and netmail
to Andrew Clark so hopefully we'll see that information he
posted regularly again here in some form or other again as
    well.

    Richard

Great -- I'm going to try to track down Gerard -- dunno what the chances are, but.....

(AND I got back on topic, sort of! <g>)

Not a problem....but it's interesting to note that your message quoted above, along with a slug of other echomail, just got here....maybe the echomail system
    was constipated?
