Hi everyone,
I upgraded my license to Extra class yesterday. Wasn't easy but I'm
proud of myself that I did it. I'll be operating as KD5COL/AE for a
week or so until the FCC database catches up.

Congratulations, Sean. Now, you can become a VE. :)
I used HamTestOnline back in 2007 to go from Technician the General
in 14 days, and General to Amateur Extra 13 days later. It was the BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT in ham radio.
Thanks, Charles. I waited 11 years. I'm glad I finally decided to get it done. :D
I have the book in a drawer here. Have to clean off the mouse turds though SD>(damn field mice are invading my shed). I should go ahead and study that SD>while I have the time.

Congrats OC.
Thanks, Sam! I heard someone from your side of the pond on the air
but my little tiny antenna just couldn't get out that far to respond
back.

If I took the Extra Test again I probably would flunk again because of some EV>questions like those two.
But whats a LID to do?
Now YOU have access to ALL OF the Ham Frequencies I could use as a General EV>before the Part 97 Rules changed where a General (or Conditional) Class Ham EV>couldn't operate on some Segments of the HF Bands anymore.

If renewal meant retesting, the hobby would've died off long ago.
But whats a LID to do?
Act as a cover on a container (hi hi).

couldn't operate on some Segments of the HF Bands anymore.
You still have to stay 3 kc's away from the edge of the band, to
avoid going out of band.
P.S. Everyday I turn the Router ON (after I've turned the DSL Modem ON),
I wait ten minutes before turning this XP box ON, and think about You told
Me to do it that way, to keep the XP box happy (and Me happy TOO!).
With Microsoft ending security updates for Windows 7, I've purchased
3 copies of Windows 10 Pro, 32-bit, from a local Best Buy. They were
$60 cheaper on each one, compared to what Microsoft wanted...and had to get a copy for each computer here. At least I'm not in a big rush to do the upgrade, but will have them done this fall.

I think I remember reading years ago that the Commission can ask a Ham to EV>take a Test if The F.C.C. decides that the Ham should take the test.
But whats a LID to do?

Thats a Lid or a lid, a LID has a different definition according to T.O.M.
I never met T.O.M. but I've heard stories about Him and the Tools He uses EV>on LIDs.
I've always kept at least 5 KC/S away from the edge of any Band I've operate EV>And since the change to the Rules, I've stayed at least 5 KC/S away from the EV>edge of any SUB-Band I've operated.
Somewhere I saw something about Microsoft having a UPdate for XP.
Have You seen anything about that?
After several blue screens telling me "Your computer ha a prblem......"
I finally replied to M$: Yes I know, it's running Windows 10.
Nope, Amlish is your native language. UK english is different!
I had several BSOD errors with XP, but haven't had a single one
with Windows 7. But, I've had numerous instances of Windows Explorer
I love the English accent of folks in the UK and in Austrailia.
Hi Daryl,
I'm no fan of either M$ or Google. Most applications I use are either HG>freeware or registered to me.
The latest aquirement is SoftMaker Freeoffice for my laptop.
On a sta
tionary machine I have LibreOffice and in the OS/2 machines
StarOffice. I will replace StarOffice with LibreOffice later.
After the fifties I lost interest for Louis Armstrong but I still listen HG>to old recordings where he still had something like a song voice.
I had started with OpenOffice, but recently put LibreOffice on the
main computer. It still works with OpenOffice created files, but ...
I prefer either classical music (Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Brahams, Mozart, Tchaikowsky, etc. -- I could listen to piano concertos or
solos all day)...or "big band and swing".

Belated congratulations!!
I upgraded several years ago mostly so I could be more valuable as a volunteer examiner (VE). As a General, I was only able to grade
Technician Class exams. As an Amateur Extra Class, I can grade all
class exams. Belive it or not, I haven't used my Extra Class
priviliges yet... Mostly due to the fact that I do not have any HF antennas up yet, and we have lived here for three years (July 29).
