I used HamTestOnline back in 2007 to go from Technician the General in
14 days, and General to Amateur Extra 13 days later. It was the BEST
MONEY I EVER SPENT in ham radio.

In my current living situation a vertical is the only way I can get back on

For ARRL/VEC, it's a 40 question open book, untimed exam...you fill it
out at your leisure...2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, etc. None of
this filling it out, and you hear "STOP!! PUT YOUR PENCIL DOWN!!", as
you cuss violently under your breath!! :P

I sat down with all 500+ questions and memorized the answers then took the SD>test. I know it's not the right way but it's the best way. Though now, SD>looking over some of the questions, I have been looking up the explanation SD>behind the answers.

I downloaded the manual in PDF format (a new version is to come out
this summer), looked at the question, went to the index, and found what
I needed. I later went back, and read the entire manual, though. There
are a couple you have to think about, but it's common sense.

Yet, you'd think after having done over 200 sessions since October,
2007, that I'd know what I'm doing (hi hi).

No it's not easy today to work DX with the low sun activity.

My HF antenna came down and now I have to find someone to get a new up.
The antenna and feeder are ready here in the shack but I have ceased to
climb ladders and work on roofs.

I read the "How to Become a Radio Amateur" book, in the late 1950's, before

I remember questions about Satellite Operation and one about "how to Modulate
a Triode in a UHF Transmitter" were on that Written Test, You probably saw
some questions like those, didn't You?

If I took the Extra Test again I probably would flunk again because of some questions like those two.

But whats a LID to do?

I see that You got the printed License now and lost the /AE ( -..-. .- . )
part of Your Call ID.

Now YOU have access to ALL OF the Ham Frequencies I could use as a General before the Part 97 Rules changed where a General (or Conditional) Class Ham couldn't operate on some Segments of the HF Bands anymore.

Congratulations Again, Glad You passed the exam.

Act as a cover on a container (hi hi).

Now YOU have access to ALL OF the Ham Frequencies I could use as a General EV>before the Part 97 Rules changed where a General (or Conditional) Class Ham EV>couldn't operate on some Segments of the HF Bands anymore.

You still have to stay 3 kc's away from the edge of the band, to avoid
going out of band.

a copy for each computer here. At least I'm not in a big rush to do the upgrade, but will have them done this fall.

Hams are frugal cheapskates. <G>

The Star Maker Freeoffice gives you the choice of working with the M$

I have been reading about Bluekeep and found a download page from Microsoft. EV>I haven't went there yet, I want to read up some more about it.

Well, once the weather calms down here (it has been a very stormy
spring), I'm going to do a backup on all 3 computers, and install
Windows 10 Pro. I'll be offline for awhile, especially for all the
updates. The ending of support and security updates for Windows 7 is the
ONLY reason I'm upgrading.

I'm trying to learn how to block TCP Port 3389 on my Linksys router.

There's probably a utility to take care of that, but I think unless
you actually set it up, like in port forwarding, it won't allow it.

I quit using XP when I upgraded to Windows 7. The same will apply when
I start using Windows 10, and quit using Windows 7. Again, the ONLY
reason I'm upgrading is because of the security issues. That will take a

I haven't used mine yet either really. Am going to spend $50 on a new base for my Mosley RV-4C vertical (10-40 meters w/80 meter coil) and hopefully will get back on the air. I did the open-book ARRL VE "review" and mailed it into them a couple of weeks ago and am waiting to hear back from them. I figure being a VE can't hurt anything and just something else to put a notch in my ham radio belt with.

I am selling my Yaesu FT-450D due to finances but still have my IC-706MKII to get on the air with.
