In case anyone is reading this echo, there should be three Spitfire
BBS's coming online shortly. Each is at differen stages of development.

You can reach what I've done, if you're curious, at
    gapbbs.rdfig.net:3141

Made mostly cosmetic changes. Added all the Spitfire files from Buffalo
Creek website and a few other files.

So I will post something here when I find out more about the other two
    bbs's.

Thought it was someone else's board...but stopped by yesterday & took a look. Liked what I saw....since that's the look I was going for when I tweaked the
TG menus to use the RG package a couple of weeks ago.

Wasn't Spitfire a commercial package back in the day? Is it still one?

Yes, I setup a Spitfire bbs trying to help a fellow sysop get his up to
telnet into. I used NetSerial and now he is running with it. He had
his registered Spitfire. Commercial, no, Shareware with 85.00 price.

It runs well here, just got to learn more to get more down. Only bad is
that utils to bring echo mail are pre2000 and dates get mangled when
    importing Hoping for a fix.

Was talking to someone else...believe Sean Dennis (not sure) he was looking
for a way to run his registered software.

I've got the downloads from them on the board from their website. Never set
it up...but love all these retro boards.

You would think being a shareware package...the company would provide Y2K
apps which would not have this issue.

Just a spitfire sub-board ping to see who all may have this feed. I just rejoined fido after many years and was surprised it was still in the backbone.na. Very happy it is even if its not used much if at all.

My first BBS in 1993 was Spitfire so its always been my first love. So much
so I rebuilt her and offering it up for logons via telnet using NetSerial.
And by reviewing the IPTIA BBS Resource Site it looks like its one of 3 Spitfire BBS's left in the world.

Anyway, let me know if "tap-tap-tap, is this thing on?" ;)

Long live the retro and Spitfire BBS.

Good deal, so gald its working and tanks Alan.

I conducted an areafix rescan for a large number of days in the past but
    didn't get anything.

Anyway, the good news is this echo is alive <g>

Anyone still out there running Spitfire?

I know of 2 non-FidoNet SysOps that run it. One of them is the owner of the Intelec Network (which does in fact gate into FTN format.)

    Best regards,
    Marc

Well it certainly works at this end. I have to get Mike up to speed and get Spitfire on his areafix.
