Consequently, you both missed the boat, while an upgrade to 10 was
free!
I looked at Microsofts free WTEN offer as being like the Apple tied
to a string on a pole that was held over the donkeys head and just a
tiny BIT farther away than the donkey's tongue could touch it.
After noting that it is a viable upgrade, I didn't waste any time to
buy a stationary machine with Win7 and upgraded it to Win10 for free.
The problems I've had, are related to moving to new programs ......
I had one big problem with Thunderbird when several thousand
messages in the In-Box got cleared out after I compacted TB.
If You are speaking of MALWAREBYTES, they have a Free and a Paid
version. I use the Free and manually update the Definitions as I
want to, the Paid version does that automagically.
Recently I read that AVAST! owns AVG now.
Have You read about that too?

I never leave any amount of messages in the InBox. The most I've had
there where over 1700, after my ISP account had been idle four years,
but they were quickly cleared out. Now there are less than 10.

Yes I think that was the one, but I removed it when it told me that the end of the free evaluation period had ended.

No, I have better things to do, than reading all sorts of gossip.

i use the filters prodigiously... when the emails come in, they are shuffled off to their own folders... then i just use the "next unread message" button at the top of the screen to go through them... emails without filters remain in the inbox until i either create a filter and folder for them or i delete them... so what if there's a bunch in there and they've all been read... it is the unread ones that matter ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for the idea. I've never tried learning how to use filters in
TB. It is TB that You're speaking of, isn't it?
I am one who will re-read Emails (and BBS messages I've saved).
One big reason I like reading BBS messages is the people who know this stuff and know how to explain it to unlearned guys like me, let me get
an EDucation.
Thanks, and Thanks to all others here.
Good day 'lower case Mark' as I saw in another message ;o)

My corespondence through by e-mail is so limited, that I haven't
delved deeper into the T-bird possibilities.

education? you didn't tell me that you were in this for the
education... that'll be $50000US, please... we need a mailing address where can the bills be sent ;)

I AM Selective about my reading but I occasionally read the views of others.
I had one big problem with Thunderbird when several thousand

Recently I read a TB Web Page that said to move messages from the
In-Box to another area.
I learned that I must had accidently clicked the Link on MWB's
screen to start the Trial Period for their Premium version.
I think that Link is at the bottom right of the MWB window.

i can understand that... my t-bird checks roughly a dozen email
addresses whenever i push the [Get Mail] button... i know of at
least 10 mailing lists that i'm on with one or more email
addresses...

You have several options in TB, but I prefer to copy/move messages that
I want to save, out of TB, because I think that 'Archive'd messages are saved on the ISP, and available only as long as you are connected.

/only/ if you use that stupid IMAP protocol thing... if you use
POP3, they are pulled off the server onto your machine and you can
do what you like with them... then if you lose them, it is your
fault...

If you care about the space that the saved text messages occupy on your HD, save them as *.txt files. That way you get rid of the MetaData that
is included in all Windows files, and you'll still have all the text.

I'll check that sometime, but right now AVG and ZA are doing what they
are designed to, I think!!
But I still would like to get an anti advertising program.
As I wrote before, the AdAware program has now become a full-fledged anti-virus program.

Yes they do, but I prefer VA as a sign off of a QSO.

Would You know about any changes to United Online to cause their Free Email Accounts to get dropped?

I used a MS Office version on the 486 Win3.1 pc and I looked at a
file I had written using Word using either the MS-DOS 5.0 DOSSHELL
But I still would like to get an anti advertising program.
Maybe AdAware still offers downloads to their older versions.

sorry, i do not... i know they combined into one entity and changed
their terms so that their software used your CPU's idle time which they then sold as a massive computer... distributed processing type stuff
like distributed.net and BIONC but this was required if you wanted to
use their services... it is/was one way for them to make money for you using their free services... aside from that, i wasn't able to find out anything to the questions
what happened to my juno email account?
what happened to my netzero email account?
there's a wikipedia page on them but it doesn't say very much... i
suspect that if the account wasn't accessed for some period of time or
the new terms of service we not agreed to at some point, they just
dropped them as inactive accounts... their customer support would be better able to help if you are serious about finding out what
happened... TBH, personally speaking, i wouldn't worry about them...
