I run XP and Vista and gonna stay with them after reading comments

Consequently, you both missed the boat, while an upgrade to 10 was
    free!

I looked at Microsofts free WTEN offer as being like the Apple tied
to a string on a pole that was held over the donkeys head and just a
tiny BIT farther away than the donkey's tongue could touch it.

You read too much, and believe, that what you read is the only truth.

After noting that it is a viable upgrade, I didn't waste any time to
buy a stationary machine with Win7 and upgraded it to Win10 for free.

The problems I've had, are related to moving to new programs ......

I had one big problem with Thunderbird when several thousand
messages in the In-Box got cleared out after I compacted TB.

I never leave any amount of messages in the InBox. The most I've had
there where over 1700, after my ISP account had been idle four years,
but they were quickly cleared out. Now there are less than 10.

If You are speaking of MALWAREBYTES, they have a Free and a Paid
version. I use the Free and manually update the Definitions as I
want to, the Paid version does that automagically.

Yes I think that was the one, but I removed it when it told me that the
end of the free evaluation period had ended.

Recently I read that AVAST! owns AVG now.
Have You read about that too?

No, I have better things to do, than reading all sorts of gossip.

I was of the thought that using a Mail Reader with the Option to Delete Messages from the Email Server and keeping them in the In-Box was the

I saw the ;) at the end of the line.

Doesn't "We" know that my mailing address can probably be found multiple
times just by doing a Search on a Search Engine for it?

And if a Search didn't work, go to qrz.com and enter W9ODR, my Amateur
    Radio Call Sign.

Just thinking, entering W9ODR in a Search Engine may give "We" the info
    "They" need.

If or when I get the bill, since this is the Season when most of the Junk
Mail that comes in my Postal Mail Box is about-Which Medicare Supplement Company would I really want to give my money to- which all goes in the
    Paper Shredder.

The bill from "We" will also be in that stack.

Tell "We" to save that postage stamp to send a bill to some one else.

Junk Mail or Junque Mail all goes in the same Black Box here along with advertisements from the local Cable TV/Internet Company and other such
mail from people who want to waste their time and money by thinking that I would want to send them any of my dough.

Would You know about any changes to United Online to cause their Free Email Accounts to get dropped?

sorry, i do not... i know they combined into one entity and changed their terms
so that their software used your CPU's idle time which they then sold as a massive computer... distributed processing type stuff like distributed.net and BIONC but this was required if you wanted to use their services... it is/was one way for them to make money for you using their free services... aside from that, i wasn't able to find out anything to the questions

what happened to my juno email account?
what happened to my netzero email account?

there's a wikipedia page on them but it doesn't say very much... i suspect that
if the account wasn't accessed for some period of time or the new terms of service we not agreed to at some point, they just dropped them as inactive accounts... their customer support would be better able to help if you are serious about finding out what happened... TBH, personally speaking, i wouldn't
    worry about them...

In a message on Friday 10-26-16 Ed Vance said to Holger Granholm:

    GA Ed,

You have several options in TB, but I prefer to copy/move messages that
I want to save, out of TB, because I think that 'Archive'd messages are saved on the ISP, and available only as long as you are connected.

This 'think' of me, was confirmed by Mark, when he told that using the
IMAP protocol for getting messages, keeps them on the server.

Using the POP protocol, brings the messages to your own hard disk.

I checked my setup in TB and found that it was set to IMAP, and I found
no way to change that to POP.

Oh well, I download everything I want to save anyway, and delete the
original as soon as I have replied to it or copied it.

I used a MS Office version on the 486 Win3.1 pc and I looked at a
file I had written using Word using either the MS-DOS 5.0 DOSSHELL

I have never used MS Office, but I know that the meta date is there, and
it disappears when I save the message as *.txt.

But I still would like to get an anti advertising program.

Maybe AdAware still offers downloads to their older versions.

I didn't see anything like that on their page.

When I was using their web site to check for any Emails I saw their Advertisement asking for Help with that project but I never participated.

This pc isn't on 24/7 where it could be used by them when I wasn't doing anything with the pc.

I looked at that page a few weeks ago but didn't see anything about changes

Yes, I only checked it occasionally to see if anyone sent something to me.

    Thanks!.
